Teal's Verizon Network App & IMEI Reuse Guide

Modified on Wed, 9 Apr at 1:56 PM

This article outlines the requirements for using the Verizon Native Core through the Teal platform, including first-time activation, APN usage, compatibility, and the process for reusing IMEIs.

Verizon Network App Overview

  • Available on: Teal Network App Store
  • Credential Type: First-party Verizon profile using full Verizon core
  • Network Types Supported: CAT-M, LTE, 5G-NSA, 5G UW
  • NB-IoT: Available on request

APN Settings

  • teal — Default APN for U.S. use
  • VZWINTERNET — Use when roaming to Mexico or Canada

Feature Compatibility

  • Meerkat: Not yet supported (coming soon)
  • SMS (MO/MT): Supported, but not through SMS API yet

Device Compatibility & Onboarding

Before production deployment, your device must be validated:

Step 1: Verizon Network Approval

  • Device must be listed in Verizon's Open Development Portal
  • Typically handled by the modem/module vendor

Step 2: Verizon eUICC Approval

  • Teal will test a sample IMEI + eID combo
  • Once validated, Verizon unlocks the device model for future eSIM provisioning

Supported Devices

  • Verizon-certified IoT devices (preferred)
  • Consumer devices (e.g., iPhones, iPads) require backend config to accept M2M-type eUICC

Note: Teal collects and sends IMEI data to Verizon once the device is activated.

IMEI Lock & Plan Assignment Rules

  • Each Verizon profile is locked to a single IMEI + eID pair
  • Switching eSIMs between devices is not supported
  • An eSIM cannot be used on another device once bound to an IMEI

Re-Using a Verizon IMEI

If you wish to re-use an IMEI that is already tied to another Teal or Verizon eSIM, you must remove the old mapping first.

Within Your Teal Account

Contact the Teal Solutions team and request the IMEI to be reset for reuse. This will allow you to reassign it to a different eID.

From Another Verizon Account

The customer account owner must perform the following steps in the Verizon ThingSpace platform:

  1. Click Change State
  2. Select Deactivate
  3. Click Delete

These actions must be performed by an authorized user on the customer’s Verizon account. Neither Teal nor Verizon can do it on behalf of another customer.
